Over the holidays, I had the chance to interview Ed Stulak (follow him at @EdStulak). He is a Realtor® out of New Jersey, and a branding expert for agents on Instagram. He has over 44,000 followers and recently launched his own training program. The reality is, many of us are online, so shouldn’t your agent be too?
But during this interview, we focused on you and what you are looking for in an agent. There are so many agents out there, and most buyers and sellers search on Google and social media for more information. What should you be expecting to see? The keywords according to Ed: Authenticity and Staying on Brand.
Let’s start with the first part: Authenticity. It is important that your agent is authentic. Someone who shows their true self, rather than someone who pretends to be someone else. Every agent is a different person, with different demographics of clients with different personalities, hobbies, and the like. All of that is okay, if it is true. Your agent should also be authentic with you. This means real conversations. If the only reason your Realtor® is reaching out is because they are asking for business, it may not be a good fit.
With that said, staying on brand is also just as important. If your agent is truly in it, they should be posting about real estate. This might include doing showings, promoting listings, or even just day-to-day office life. But there is nothing wrong with the occasional post with them snowboarding, traveling, or spending time with friends and family. Agents are people too, and they can show it off. The goal is to have balance. Consistency is important. Often the worst accounts are ones that lose focus and are not true to their brand.
